Huis Ten Bosch

I took a trip to Huis Ten Bosch this week. Huis Ten Bosch is a theme park styled after a Dutch city. The park is located in Sasebo, Nagasaki prefecture. It was kind of surreal walking among the windmills and shopping for Gouda cheese while the staff talked to us using Japanese. Still, it was a lot of fun and I would recommend it if you are looking for something out of the ordinary.

Summer rains

Every year across Western and Central Japan the summer rains march across the country. The rain sometimes lasts for days or even weeks, and bring massive rainfall and flooding to much of the country. The monsoons blow in from the west and you can see the systems stretch back across Korea and into China.
